Go Fish

14 JULY 2006, ST. HELENA, CALIFORNIA - The creative and culinary force that gave us Fog City Diner, Mustard's Grill and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen has lured a big fish on the sushi scene to the Napa Valley. Ken Tominaga, owner of Sonoma County's Hana and an alumni of Tokyo's Akasaka Cooking School, teams with Cindy to open Go Fish Grill here September 1. The restaurant promises wine country diners a West Coast fish grill and an expert sushi bar. Fish will be flown in fresh daily.

The restaurant will make its home on the town's vibrant South Main Street, already anchored by Tra Vigne, Leslie Rudd's Press and Dean & De Luca. Passionately committed to fresh, organic produce, Cindy wasted no time replicating her much-loved Mustard's garden on the adjacent property. The team has again engaged architect Howard Backen to completely redesign the former home of Pinot Blanc incorporating the clean contemporary elements characteristic of his work.

Wine Country diners who can't seem to find enough outdoor dining in the area's generally hospitable climate will be glad to know that Backen has made the garden patio a pivotal component of his redesign.

Key in the creation of Go Fish is a third partner, Sean Knight who studied finance at Georgia State University while falling for the food world as a cook at Atlanta's Buckhead Diner. As a chef, he worked for some of America's most acclaimed chefs in the kitchens of: Bouley, Le Bernadin, Daniel and Patina where he began the winning relationship with Joachim Splichal that led to Knight's helping take the company from three restaurants to over 25 properties.

Recognizing Knight's considerable galvanizing and leadership strengths, Cindy persuaded him to join her as director of operations in 2004. He has since managed Mustard's Grill and Cindy's Backstreet Kitchen, both magnets for locals.

Go Fish can be reached at (707) 963-0700. The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11:30 a.m. - 9:30 p.m. Closing at 10:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays. A late night sushi bar will be available on weekends.
